Lunch & Desserts!

A huge thanks to the wives and children of the Northwestern High School football coaches! The wives have agreed to provide a salad lunch (think variety - potato salad, fruit salad, chicken salad, etc). The children are graciously providing some yummy dessert treats for all of us to enjoy on the day of the crop!!

Background

What's this all about?

The Herron family started the Dalton Help Foundation to raise money for the fight against autism. The funds raised are being used in two main ways:
- To help families handle the financial needs caused by autism
- Donated to organizations that research autism looking for a cause and cure, and organizations that provide services or assistance to autistic individuals and their families.

Why'd they do it?

The Herron family consists of Strait, Brigitte, 9 year old Syndey, and 5 year old Dalton, who is autistic. Despite the demand they already have on their daily lives, they have chosen to take on this foundation as a way of helping others that are in a similar position as themselves.

Who am I?
I'm a friend of the family and have become involved with the foundation. I have served on the committee for their golf tournament fundraiser and was recently asked to be on the board. I wanted to find a way that I could help and scrapbooking is my area of expertise!

What's a crop?
A crop is an event where scrapbookers gather to work on their projects - usually scrapbook layouts. They vary in length, size and location, but the general concept is the same. Crops usually feature scrapbooking tools that everyone is allowed to use, but the majority of the supplies are brought by the individual. Often there are extra activities such as: door prizes, contests, games, goody bags, demos, make-n-takes, classes. If you are not a scrapbooker, simply spread the word about the event!

Why a blog?
I wanted a way to quickly update everyone involved with the crop over the next few months as things come together. It's a method for people interested in signing up to get all the information they need. And it's also a way for me to continuously provide new information for those that are already registered. I recommend bookmarking the blog, and checking in for frequent updates.
