Huge Thanks!!!

I just wanted to send out a huge thanks to a LOT of people:

First and foremost... the ladies that attended the crop and made the event a wonderful SUCCESS!!!

I'd also like to thank all the local and national contributors that allowed us to have great goodie bags, fun prizes and profitable raffles & silent auction!

And, I personally, want to thank those that helped me pull this off. I did not have a "committee" or anything formal, so everyone's help is so appreciated. This includes Brigitte Herron & Jennifer Lopez, and also my family - my mom, my two sisters, and even my brother-in-law and nephews (P.S. - my husband's pretty awesome too but he had to work all weekend).

We raised a total of $1360, which is just plain AWESOME!!!!

THANKS!!!

Recipe from Crop

The wives of the Northwestern High School football coaches did an amazing job with our salad lunch at the crop. There were some recipe requests that followed. This one was my particular favorite so I thought I'd share with everyone.

Broccoli Cole Slaw Recipe
courtesy Linda Fuller and Christine Lakhani
obtained from The Food Network website

Ingredients:
2 bags (3-ounce) Ramen Noodle Soup in Oriental (other flavors will work, too)
3/4 stick butter
1/4 cup slivered almonds
2 bags (12-ounce) bags broccoli cole slaw (in the bagged salad section of the grocery store)
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
Chopped green onions, for garnish

Dressing Ingredients:
3/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup brown or white sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 ramen noodle seasoning packet

Directions:
Put the ramen noodles in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin while melting butter in a large skillet over low/medium heat. Add the crushed noodles and slivered almonds to the skillet and saute, stirring occasionally (keep temperature at low/medium heat). Meanwhile, whisk together all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl. Place the shredded broccoli into bowl and toss with the noodles, almonds, and sunflower seeds. Pour dressing over salad and toss to coat. Garnish with chopped green onions.

Trading Table

Everyone attending the event should bring their unwanted supplies to get rid of! There will be a trading table set up for you to place unwanted scrapping supplies. Everyone is welcome to dig through the stash and take what they want. This is not a place to sell anything, simply free trading. At the end of the evening, you can either take your supplies back, or I will donate whatever is left! It's a great time to do some purging!
